Automated cross-media publication workflows made easy with Enfocus Switch, PitStop Server and PitStop Connect at IFRA Expo 2011
Enfocus and Enfocus Crossroads* partners showcase latest workflow automation and file processing solutions to the newspaper industry.
23 September 2011 – Gent, Belgium – Newspaper professionals will get the chance to see sophisticated automated cross-media publishing solutions at IFRA Expo 2011 (10 – 12 October, 2011 in Vienna, Austria), as Enfocus and Enfocus Crossroads partners demonstrate their latest workflow automation and file processing tools for the newspaper industry.
At the Crossroads stand (A760), Enfocus will demonstrate solutions which target specifically cross-media publications, secure and streamlined file deliveries and integration to data-base driven applications. The latest updates of the Switch 10 automation platform, PitStop Server 10 and PitStop Connect 10 for preflighting and file delivery will be demonstrated. Visitors will have the opportunity to also learn how various Crossroads partner applications can be integrated with Switch.
“Enfocus Switch was just awarded the 2011 InterTech Technology Award, for being highly customizable and simple to integrate with third party vendor applications,” says Angelo Manno, Global Account Manager, Crossroads. “Using Switch, newspaper production professionals are able to gain a competitive edge by automating and streamlining their cross-media publication workflows, and leverage on previously made investments.”
Through this integration, Switch controls the Crossroads partner’s application by passing along the required processing parameters. Extensive customization possibilities through scripting in Switch means any specific processing need can be anticipated.
Sharing a common goal: Enfocus Crossroads partners at IFRA Expo 2011
Several Crossroads partners will present their solutions at the Crossroads stand or at their own stands at the show. These include:
Enfocus will demonstrate the latest versions of its cutting-edge solutions on stand A760 at IFRA Expo. These include:
Switch 10 update 1: Moving into position of central hub of control and automation
Enfocus Switch moves into a central position within organizations’ publishing production and supply chain systems with the release of Switch 10 Update 1 and the optional Database Module. This highly powerful module for PowerSwitch sites brings unprecedented automation to often cumbersome and expensive database-related applications. These benefits are made even more appealing by Switch 10 update 1’s increased support for XMP. The new ability to embed Adobe’s Extensible Metadata Platform (XMP) provides a common way for design applications, workflow systems, and backend publishing systems to capture, share and process metadata. In addition, Enfocus has developed SwitchClient for iPad to accommodate iPad, and other tablet, users. While SwitchClient for iPad is a convenience product, allowing professionals to monitor and manage their Switch jobs via iPad, Enfocus is also developing solutions to assist publishers and other stakeholders in simplifying cross-media workflow processes for legacy, as well as new content. The new CS5 Switch Configurators for In Design, Illustrator and Photoshop have been enhanced, allowing for more and expanded automation and support for CS5.5. Enhancements to the InDesign configurator for example now allows exports directly to the ePub format.
PitStop Server 10 update 3: Preflighting with powerful color conversion
PitStop Server takes the power of PitStop Pro preflighting tools to new levels of automation, and fits seamlessly into Enfocus FullSwitch and PowerSwitch. It fixes common problems in PDF files, adjusts colors for particular output devices and supports the latest PDF standards.
Recent updates to PitStop Server 10 have made it possible to view and edit files on e-reader devices such as the iPad, and have introduced more powerful color management of spot colors and CMYK separations through the new Channel Remap feature.
PitStop Connect 10: A gateway for sending and receiving trouble-free PDFs
PitStop Connect is the desktop tool for document receivers who want to be sure that their document creators deliver PDF files created according to specification. Easy-to-use “connectors” are created and downloaded to the document creator’s desktop. Senders simply drop files onto the connector, which performs automated preflighting, correction and certification of the PDFs, and delivers them to the document receiver’s FTP server or directly into Switch.
In PitStop Connect 10, management of connectors, distributed to document creators, is fully automated. When a connector is updated with a new preflight profile or action list, the changes will be automatically synchronized with all the connectors that have been distributed. Also the support for SFTP has been added to provide an even more secure file upload of PDFs and other file types.
